BMus (Performance) Sydney Conservatorium of Music
LMusA – Cello
Jenean began the cello at the early age of 5 and is currently completing a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium under renowned teacher, Julian Smiles. In 2013, she was awarded her Licentiate of Music Diploma. In addition to playing with the Conservatorium’s orchestras, she is a member of the Willoughby Symphony orchestra and has been a participant at the Australian Youth Orchestra’s National Music Camp. In 2014, Jenean was selected to be an intern at Opera Australia and worked with members of the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. As well as classical music, Jenean enjoys playing musical theatre and jazz around the Sydney area, including TV appearances, studio recordings and world/national premieres of new musicals.
Jenean enjoys teaching and introducing the cello to new students, building a strong foundation and technique. She recognises that each student is different and learns in their own way, adapting to what suits them best. She is able to prepare students for AMEB exams or just to learn for fun, but most of all to develop a love for this wonderful instrument.
